Our Story

Today, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church is a group of people who truly want to make a difference in this generation for the glory of God. We strive to be very intentional in all that we do and our hope is to see God bring people to himself and then to grow in their faith through our church. The most important thing we do each day of our lives and when we gather corporately is to worship the one true God and to bring glory to him through our lives. That’s what we are about at Pleasant Grove.

For over 155 years, Pleasant Grove has been a lighthouse to the surrounding community, seeing God use the ministries of this church in many ways. It is on the rich heritage of the faithful members who have come before us that we now stand.

Pleasant Grove was founded by a group of pioneer settlers on May 22, 1852. They met under an oak tree just north of what is now Highway 10. For the next forty years the church met at this site.

In 1892 the church meeting site became Protho Campground on the Little Maumelle River. Finally, in 1924 the church built at the present location. The present auditorium was built in 1992, demonstrating an incredible story of the bold faith of the church and a desire to impact the surrounding community.

We praise the Lord for generations of faithful believers who have gathered to serve the Lord and have built the foundation upon which we now stand as Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

The church’s current location is at the intersection of Kanis Road and the Ferndale Cutoff, just west of Little Rock. This growing area is a unique combination of a rural and suburban community, and provides Pleasant Grove with an incredible responsibility and opportunity to see God make a significant impact through our church.
